Job Description
Our client in the Insurance space with location in Lagos is urgently in need of transaction officers that will handle the role of Reconciliation Officer. The job role entails you to oversee the responsibility for the prompt reconciliation of all bank accounts within the company, zero tolerance of unposted transactions at month end, Rendition of all reconciliation reports within advised turnaround time of 3 days after books closure, Percentage of total transaction errors against total number of transactions processed (5% threshold).
JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Ensure daily reconciliation of all suspense accounts within the company.
• Review all suspense GL accounts allocated to you on a daily basis.
• Identify new entries, unusual movements, long-outstanding items, and high-value transactions.
• Investigate the root cause of unmatched items using supporting documents, transaction logs, and system reports.
• Liaise with relevant departments (Finance, Operations, Claims, IT, Treasury, Collections, etc.) to resolve outstanding entries.
• Prepare reconciliation statements showing outstanding items, ageing, and reasons.
• Prepare journals to clear suspense items to the correct GL accounts once validated.
• Provide daily/weekly/monthly suspense reconciliation reports to management.
Technical & Behavioural Competencies;
• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• High proficiency with Excel and reconciliation systems.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and GL controls.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Job Requirements
Educational Qualification and Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Accounting, or any related discipline.
• Professional certification such as CIIN, ACCA, ICAN, or relevant qualification is an added advantage
• 1 – 2 years relevant experience in the Insurance industry.
